☆ Newbie lolita wardrobe: 2025 ☆
♡ Introduction ♡
Welcome to the first official blog post of my website! I thought I would start off with a fashion post as requested by
the lovely inkcaps in my guestbook. :) As one could glean from the title of this post, I am a very newbie lolita fashion wearer, only officially purchasing
pieces in the latter half of this year, however I have been interested in lolita fashion and the lolita fashion community since I was a freshman in high school (10+ years ago...).
There were several reasons for me getting into the fashion so late after becoming interested, including access to buying resources and general self esteem issues (especially
through my university years), however in the latter half of last year I suffered a life-threatening allergic reaction that really pushed me to lay off all of the excuses and finally
get into the style I've been admiring for so many years.
I do not plan to be a lifestyle lolita, as I enjoy other styles as well (mori kei, himekaji, etc.) which I am also in the beginning stages of collecting pieces for. I also plan to collect all of my pieces secondhand as I prefer pre-loved fashion!
This is a very small wardrobe as my resources are still limited and this year I was pretty disorganized with my collecting (I kind of just collected pieces I liked without thinking about how I would wear them to be honest...). That being said, I hope to grow my wardrobe next year by taking a more organized, coord-focused approach to collecting pieces. :)

✦ Angelic Pretty Chelsea Girl JSK (2024) in Black ✦
This is the first dress I ever bought, also at this point the most expensive. On a whim while deleriously ill with COVID for the third time, I decided to check if Closet Child was still around as when I was much younger I enjoyed scrolling the catalogue and making mental wishlists of dresses I wanted to own. As before, I scrolled through Closet Child seemingly aimlessly until I came across this dress on the 15th or so page, and I'm not sure if it was spurred by the intensity of my fever or my Malice Mizer binge of days prior, but I completely fell in love with it. Now having "big girl" money, I pondered on the dress a bit, before deciding to take the leap.

This dress was purchased from Lace Market from KiraraAikatsu! I had just heard of Lace Market from an EGL YouTuber (I think LovelyLor?), and made an account when I saw the listing on the front page. I thought it was gorgeous and the material looked heavy and luxurious. Even though there were various problems with shipping (the label got destroyed during transit somehow), when I saw the dress in person for the first time it was worth it!
✦ Dolls Party Animal Kindergarten OP (2022) in White ✦
This one was a bit of an impulse purchase off of Closet Child since it was notably less expensive than other OPs being sold. As soon as I saw it, I was immediately brought back to seeing tons of Nile Perch and Spank! content on my Tumblr feed in 2014, the real heyday of fairy-kei. I believe it was inspired by Angelic Pretty's Peacefully Sleeping Toys OP, however I do really prefer the additions they made to this piece (I adore the little teady bear broach in the middle)! Because this dress gave me such strong fairy-kei vibes, I plan to coord it with more 80s inspired pastel-cute pieces!
✦ Star Cat Floating Dream Whale JSK (2018) in Light Blue ✦
This is the first piece I bought off of Facebook Marketplace for a pretty solid deal. Because the listing didn't include the name of the JSK/collection, I had to do a bit of digging to find it since I am very new to Taobao C-lolita. I loved the blue and white frills, and it came with wrist cuffs and a headbow. I also adore the whale design, they look so majestic against the peaceful blue background. It is also incredibly comfortable! My only complaint is the lack of a hook and eye at the top of the side zipper, however this can be easily attached by myself.
✦ Smile NASU Strawberry Picnic JSK (Unknown Year) in Red ✦
I also bought this piece from Facebook Marketplace. I had purchased the Strawberry Orchard Embroidery Long Sleeve Blouse from Closet Child a month before and was looking for a JSK to pair with it, and this one seemed absolutely perfect! The straps lay perfectly under the beautifully ornate embroidered collar from the blouse. This one also came with hair bows and stockings. My only gripe is the one I also ran into with the Floating Dream Whale JSK, in terms of there being no hook and eye on top of the side zipper for security, however I am more than happy to add this for the price I purchased this set at. In my short time of collecting lolita, I am very drawn to strawberry prints, and this picnic print charmed me immediately, I will thoroughly enjoy wearing these pieces together during strawberry season (and beyond)!

When I first started purchasing lolita pieces, I was very much drawn to JSKs because of how beautiful and intricate they were so I initially neglected buying blouses. When I saw this piece when browsing Closet Child on a whim, I knew I had to own it. I LOVE big embroidered collars and strawberry motifs, so it was a match made in heaven.♡ Shopping List for 2026 ♡
